Culver Indiana Portrait Photographer: Loehr Christmas Shoot
Today, Ginny and I went to shoot the Loehr girls and their parents Wendy and Alan. I think if Ginny could be a photographer full time, she would be a children’s photographer. She loves getting down on the floor and viewing kids at their level, as if she wants to remember what it’s like to see things from their viewpoint.
Eliza is the older of the kids and took charge of the scene by trying to get her sister Avery to smile. She was rocking Avery back and forth and rolling back to let her slide back on her. She was a hoot. When it came to the family shots, we had a hard time with composition. When shooting groups, you try to get the composition right while getting everyone to look at the camera at the same time. It’s always a challenge, but also a lot of fun, as you get some good laughs from checking pictures and saying, “Oops, this time so and so had his eyes shut.” In our case, Eliza was ready to be done with the shoot, as she knew she was going to visit Santa, so Alan and Wendy had to talk her into sticking with it. She was a trooper. The girls are sweet and deserving of Santa’s trip to their house. They are a beautiful family, and we wish them a happy holiday season and blessings in the New Year.
Fantastic pics. How long have you two been working as a photography team?
We’ve been a team for nearly 20 years. We’ve been photographing as a team since last Spring when we booked a couple of weddings as I knew that I wanted a second shooter. It really works out well as we have different eyes and styles. I’m the technical one and Ginny is the creative one. She also will sit and watch people waiting for that one moment to happen that might never happen again.
