Culver Academy Hockey Photos: CMA Varsity Hockey vs. Prairie Ridge High School
What a nail biter game! This evening, the CMA Eagle’s Varsity Hockey Team hosted the Prairie Ridge High School hockey team for their first home game of the season. The game started out on a possitive note with the Culver Eagles scoring early in the game followed by another goal a few minutes later. The first period ended with a score of Culver 2, Prairie Ridge 0. The second period proved to be a challenge for Culver with Culver giving up 2 points. The period ended with a tie score. During the third period, Culver scored with Prairie Ridge following a few minutes later. It appeared as though the game was going to end as a tie until Culver scored with 37 seconds left in the game. Final score: Culver-4, Prairie Ridge- 3. Let’s hope Culver can win again in the morning when there is a rematch. I’ve posted my favorite photos here. There are several hundred more at www.culverphotos.com.
Culver Academy Hockey Photos: CMA Hockey Prep Team
This evening was the much anticipated first game for Culver Academy’s 2009-2010 Hockey team. The Prep team of the CMA Eagles traveled to South Bend to open the season. Once again, coach Al Clark has produced a world-class team that will be difficult to defeat and fun to watch. The kids played hard and won the game with a final score of 8 to 2. I’ve posted my favorite photos here though there are hundreds more located on www.culverphotos.com.
Culver Academy Soccer Photos: CGA Varsity Soccer Regionals
This evening the CGA Varsity Soccer team traveled to South Bend to compete in the State Regional Tournament against the South Bend Riley soccer team. Both teams played hard and fair, though Riley proved to be a tough opponent. Culver lost 2 to 1. One of the excitements of the game was when there was only 8 minutes left in the game and Culver scored their goal on a long penalty shot. With this goal, you could see the players’ determination change on the field. For the girls who had been playing for 72 minutes, there was a new found energy as they knew there was a chance of scoring again to tie the game. Riley found that same energy though with their efforts to keep Culver from scorring a second goal. The last eight minutes were intense and fun to watch though the outcome was not what we had hoped for. I’ve posted more photos at www.culverphotos.com. Until I research ISHAA’s tournament rules further, my photos from tonight’s game are only for viewing and will not be sold. I hope to clarify things in the next few days.
Culver Academy Photographer: Cross Country Sectionals at Culver Academy
This afternoon, Culver Academy hosted the Regional Tournament for boys and girls cross country. With clear skies and over a dozen schools being represented, it was a great success. I primarily focused on shooting the Culver Community School Corporation and Culver Academy teams. Instead of creating four sperate blog entires (CCHS Boys, CCHS Girls, CHA Boys, and CGA Girls), I’ve decided to bunch everything into a single entry. On www.culverphotos.com. the photos have been divided out by school and team for easier viewing. I believe that Culver Academy placed first, second, and third in the boys event and first and second in the girls.
Culver Academy Tennis Photos: CMA Varsity Tennis Sectional vs. Knox high School
This evening the CMA Varsity tennis team hosted Knox high School at Culver Academy for the Sectionals. It was a beautiful day to get some great shots. I’ve posted my favorite shots here; more can be found at www.culverphotos.com.
Culver Academy Volleyball Photos: CGA Varsity Volleyball vs. Oregon Davis
This was the second half of the evening with the CGA Varsity Volleyball team hosting Oregon Davis High School at Culver Academy. The games were fun to watch with the teams very well matched. I stayed for three games with the CGA Eagles winning the first game and barely getting beat in the two following games. I’ve posted a few of my favorites here; more photos can be found at www.culverphotos.com.
Culver Academy Volleyball Photos: CGA Varsity Volleyball
This was the second set of games played tonight by the Volleyball teams at Culver Academy. Earlier, the JV Volleyball team played. These pictures are from the Varsity Volleyball game. I wish that I had been able to stay past the first Varsity game as the teams were so well matched and the score throughout the game was quite close. Unfortunately though, other obligations required me to leave early.
Culver Academy Soccer Photos: Rainy Afternoon For Soccer
Things do not always work out as planned. Today, I was intending on shooting both Culver Academy JV and Varsity Soccer games followed by the CGA Varsity soccer game. The weather had other plans for the afternoon. The first game started on time despite the pouring rain. Three and a half minutes into the game, the game was stopped for 30 minutes because of thunder. Once the game resumed, the teams played for another 20-30 minutes before being called again for thunder. At this point, I’m not sure if the game was canceled or delayed. Between being cold from the rain and there no longer being any natural light, I decided to call it a night and head home. I’ve posted some additional photos at www.culverphotos.com, though I wasn’t able to get as many as I had hoped.
Culver Academy Football Photos: CMA Varsity Football
Tonight was a good night for the Eagles. With a score of 50+ to 0 at the half, it was obvious that the Eagles were on fire. Ginny and I spent most of the evening on the Eagle’s offensive end, as they scored one goal after another.
For the second half, the coaches decided to play some of the JV players. It was nice seeing some kids on the field who don’t always get to play varsity, and they did their team proud. As with all of the evening games, lighting was not on our side and caused many shooting problems. Ginny says that we need to get the best lens made for action or she will start taking pictures of the fans who aren’t usually in motion. I wouldn’t be opposed to that (getting another lens)! We had a full moon on this particular evening, so Ginny took a few shots of the cheerleaders with the full moon in the background. We’ve posted our best at www.culverphotos.com. Here is a selection of some of my favorite action shots. Go Eagles!
Culver Academy Photographer: Busy Afternoon
Today was a very busy afternoon in Culver with four different sporting events going on at the same time. Instead of focusing on any single game, I tried (and managed) to get photos at all the events. I have no idea what the final scores were, but I decided that it was more important to get photos from as many games as I could instead of focusing on a specific game. The four games that I have photos from are: CMA Varsity Soccer vs. Culver Community School Coproration, CGA Varsity Soccer, CGA JV Soccer, and CMA Varsity Tennis. To avoid cluttering the blog, I posted all of the photos at www.culverphotos.com.
