Culver Indiana Portrait Photographer: Kissell Family Shoot
Today, Ginny and I met the Kissell family at the Culver Cover for some family photos. Herb and Dot’s kids and grandkids were a lot of fun. They all share the same great humor of Dot and Herb. We took pictures of what Ginny called each “subfamily,” and then we took group shots of the grandkids and the entire family. Ginny also took some closeups of individuals while I was doing the formal group shots. We had a great time with this family. There is a lot of laughing and joy among them. Happy Holidays to all of the Kissells. We hope to see you for a future shoot!
Culver Indiana Children Photographer: Crazy Christmas Hair
Today, Ginny and I took some random shots of the kids. They will often pose for us, but getting all of them to look at the camera at the same time is a feat, and in this case, we had some funny hair styles going on in the photos. Still, it’s the casual, fun shots that make having a camera available worth it.
Culver Indiana Portrait Photographer: Loehr Christmas Shoot
Today, Ginny and I went to shoot the Loehr girls and their parents Wendy and Alan. I think if Ginny could be a photographer full time, she would be a children’s photographer. She loves getting down on the floor and viewing kids at their level, as if she wants to remember what it’s like to see things from their viewpoint.
Eliza is the older of the kids and took charge of the scene by trying to get her sister Avery to smile. She was rocking Avery back and forth and rolling back to let her slide back on her. She was a hoot. When it came to the family shots, we had a hard time with composition. When shooting groups, you try to get the composition right while getting everyone to look at the camera at the same time. It’s always a challenge, but also a lot of fun, as you get some good laughs from checking pictures and saying, “Oops, this time so and so had his eyes shut.” In our case, Eliza was ready to be done with the shoot, as she knew she was going to visit Santa, so Alan and Wendy had to talk her into sticking with it. She was a trooper. The girls are sweet and deserving of Santa’s trip to their house. They are a beautiful family, and we wish them a happy holiday season and blessings in the New Year.
Culver Indiana Family Photographer: Christiansen Photo Shoot
Today, Ginny and I did a photoshoot of the Christiansen family: Kurt, Pamela, Jack, and Sarah. We took pictures on Culver Academy’s campus and down by the lake. In one picture, it looks like 16-month old Sarah is directing the shoot. She was actually very shy, so it’s kind of fun to see that shot of her looking in charge. We had a blast taking pictures of the kids. They are curious, high-energy, and very sweet children. Jack is into sports and looks like an athlete already. You can see his football in the pictures. And as Ginny pointed out, he’s really fast. Sarah was a little bit worried about the strange man and woman taking her picture, but she warmed up after awhile.
While shooting near the senior ring, we saw the rough riding team practicing. The kids were fascinated by the horses, so we took a few pictures of them watching. Ginny got down on the ground to get some eye-level shots and close-ups. It was hard to get the group photos for this shoot, as Sarah is a little freaked out by the cameras, but boy, when she smiles, she’s the cutest child. We had a great time and hope to take more pictures as Sarah and Jack grow. Ginny and I thought they had great personalities, so we look forward to seeing them grow up.
Culver Indiana Senior Pictures: Shae Harris Senior Photos, Part 2
Today, we met again with Shae Harris to take some photos that included props from her school activities and her car. And, we met 10-year-old Ally, Shae’s sister, and Nick, Shae’s boyfriend. Ally is not only funny, but she’s also creative. She came up with some fun ideas for posed pictures and outdoor pictures on the swing set. Though Nick was coming from basketball practice, he was very accomodating of us and agreed to take a few shots. What a nice guy, and we know he has good taste! We took a few shots just as it was getting dark, and though the lighting wasn’t ideal, the couple was. We went for the goofy, the creative, the props, the car, some school signs, and the beautiful Shae. It was a fun photoshoot. We’ve uploaded more photos to the Shae gallery. Thanks Shae and Harris family. We love your humor and your kindness. Both seem to run in the family! Congrats to Shae and Nick on their senior year. Hope your final months are filled with fond memories!
Culver Indiana Senior Pictures: Shae Harris Senior Photos, Part 1
The rain finally stopped long enough for us to take photos. Today, Ginny and I shot Shae Harris. Shae is a senior at Culver Community High School, and she is the daughter of Robin Harris, a friend of Ginny’s.
We had planned to take photos of Shae at a beautiful yellow tree near the dentist’s office, but this weekend’s weather took the leaves off of the tree, making a barren background. Ginny and I had scouted a few other locations, and we were lucky enough to get those to work, as all the leaves haven’t fallen yet and there were some great backdrops to work with, and some decent lighting. The weather held out, and the sun actually came out for a few shots. And Shae was beautiful. She has a natural smile and easy-going personality. We had a great time shooting her in the natural settings of Fall.
Later in the week, we will shoot more photos of Shae to capture what she does at school and her car. Thanks for your patience today, Shae. We had a great time with you and know you have a great future ahead of you.
Culver Indiana Portrait Photographer: Bartleman Family
This afternoon, I was hired to photograph the Bartleman family and their two puppies after the Culver Academy Garrison Parade. The Bartlemans wanted to get this photoshoot because they are all in the same place only a few times a year.
We decided that the lakefront and at the senior ring would provide some ideal backdrops, so we chose a couple of different angles in the ring. We didn’t have the best light, as it was a bit overcast, but the Bartleman family brings their own light to a shot. They have great humor and had Ginny and I laughing the whole time. We all had a good laugh when we realized that we were so focused on getting the dogs to look at the camera that we forgot about the rest of the group. We had a blast with this family and were honored they let us take some pictures for their next Christmas card.
Culver Indiana Children Photographer: Sisters Eliza and Avery- Part 2
It’s time for more pictures of Eliza and Avery Loehr (and their mom Wendy). Ginny and I sorted through another set of photos of the Loehr kids. We posted some to the blog earlier this month when we first took the pictures. In this set, you can see the girls close up; beautiful eyes, pretty smiles, and wonderful personalities. We also let Eliza choose her own props. You have to love a child who goes for her books and Teddy Bear first when choosing what to use in her pictures. We had such a fun time working with these beautiful sisters.
Culver Indiana Children Photographer: Sisters Eliza and Avery
Today, Ginny and I had the pleasure of photographing Wendy and Alan Loehr’s beautiful daughters Eliza and Avery. We met up with the Loehrs at their home and spent about an hour and half with the charming Eliza and sweet, happy Avery. Ginny kept calling Avery the happy naked baby. She did seem happy to wear her birthday suit for some of our shots.
We haven’t had time to sort through all of the pictures, nor have we cropped/edited them, but we wanted to post some so that Alan and Wendy could get a sneak peak. I’m going to Vegas for a bachelor party, so I will have to post more pictures later.
Eliza was a lot of fun to work with and responded well to having two strangers with a lot of equipment and flashes come in and interrupt her play time. She stole our hearts with her beautiful eyes and playful disposition. And her baby sister Avery seems to love her big sister. Here are a few photographs of these beautiful sisters, and I’ve put one in of their very kind mom.
Indiana Children Photography: Lucy and Her High Tops
What can I say? I can’t resist taking pictures of Lucy when we are around her. Even with crusted food on her face, she is cute. I know that the settings and backgrounds were not ideal but she is still a fun child to shoot. On this particular day, she was so proud as she had just received new pink high top tennis shoes.
