Culver Indiana Children Photographer: Easter Egg Hunt
This past weekend, we got to spend time with our nieces and nephews, and Ginny decided to do an Easter egg hunt, always a popular thing to do with the kids. It was a little chilly outside, but the kids had a blast, and we shot a few pictures to capture their fun.
Culver Indiana Wedding Photographer: Jennifer and Joe Engagement Session
Today, Ginny and I shot engagement photos for Jennifer and Joe, a couple whose wedding we will be shooting in a few weeks. The weather was beautiful and their property in the country couldn’t have been a better backdrop for some outdoor photos. We had fun shooting the two of them as they are such a warm and friendly couple to be around. As I hope the photos reflect, Jennifer and Joe have a lot of love and respect for one another and I’m sure that their marriage will go far. Between being around them for a few hours and having our first all outdoor shoot of the Spring, Ginny and I had a great time. Ginny’s comments was, “This couple belongs together.” We love it when we see that in a couple that is about to marry.
Culver Indiana Senior Pictures: Sdao Senior Pictures
Today, Ginny and I shot Culver Academy senior Jonathon Sdao at the Culver Memorial Legion Building and on the shores of Lake Maxinkuckee. Jonathon was a patient, willing sport throughout the shoot. Getting the lighting just right in the Legion Building took some trial and error and a whole lot of adjustments to get the results that we wanted. (For those not familiar with the building, it is an older building with stone walls throughout. It is a beautiful building though it does preset some challenges for photographers.) We managed though and ended up with some great shots. We wish Jonathon and his family the best as they bid Culver farewell in the coming months.
Culver Indiana Wedding Photographer: Troy and Mallory Engagement Session
Today, we decided to give this rainy a go to get some shots of the beautiful Mallory and one of our favorites, Culver police officer Troy. Mallory and Troy are getting married in June, so we decided to wait on engagement photos for this Spring. We have had several sunny days, so we scheduled the engagement session and got rain… Still, Mallory and Troy put on some color and provided some together time for us to take a handful of pictures. They were engaged at a drive-in movie theater, which is where we plan to meet next for a photo shoot if the owners let us. We are also going to take some shots with Troy in his Culver uniform. Troy said the sweetest thing today. He said that over 70% of police officers divorced after just three years, but he and Mallory were going to beat those odds. After today, I have no doubt that will be the case.
Culver Academy Hockey Photos: CGA U19 Hockey vs. Ohio Flames
This weekend, the CGA U19 Hockey team hosting a tournament with 6 teams competing on Culver Academy’s campus. Shown below are some photos from the first game that featured Culver playing against the Ohio Flames. It was a great game, even though the girls could not pull off a win. I’ve posted additional photos at http://www.culverphotos.com/p91981390
Culver Academy Horsemanship Photos: Cupid’s Challenge 2010
This weekend, the Culver Academy JV and Varsity Jumping teams hosted the 2010 Cupid’s Challenge Horse Show. This is an annual show at Culver’s Riding Hall in which 7 or 8 teams teams travel to Culver to participate. I believe that Culver placed well overall, though with 14 classes competeting on both Friday and Saturday, I’m honestly not sure what the final results ended up being. I do know from talking with several of the parents and coaches from the visiting teams that the kids love this show and look forward to it each year. I’d like to recognize everyone that works in the Horsemanship Department for a great tournament, as this truly was a group effort on their part to put on this show. It is also worth noting that the Lady Equestrienne Team from Notre Dame graciously came down for the weekend to assist.
I’ve posted a few of my favorite photographs here; there are over a thousand more located on CulverPhotos at http://www.culverphotos.com/cupid2010
Culver Indiana Photography: Some Random Shots
Today I went out in search of things to find. I really wasn’t looking for anything in particular though I had to shoot using very specific camera settings. These photos were all taken using the Auto Area Focus mode and the Programmed Auto mode and no exposure compensation. In layman’s terms, the photos that you see were taken so that the camera could determine settings. For all practical purposes, for these photos, I set the D300s up as closely to being a point and shoot camera as possible. I prefer not to shoot in Auto Programmed mode, but this was a good exercise.
Culver Academy Hockey Photos: CMA U16 Hockey vs. Detroit Central Catholic
The CMA U16 Hockey teams wins again! With a final score of 6-to-1, Culver Academy had no difficulty winning against Detroit Central Catholic. Both teams played well and fairly with very few fouls throughout the game. I’ve posted some photos here; there are many more at http://www.culverphotos.com/p947134042
Culver Academy Fencing Photos: Culver Fencing Tournament
Today, the Culver Fencing Teams hosted one of the largest fencing tournaments in the Midwest. With close to 200 kids competing in 20-30 different areas, this event was something to witness. I’ve never watched fencing, though I found it interesting. I’ve posted a few photos here; there are more at http://www.culverphotos.com/p1005382416 I apologize that there are not as many as I post for some events that I cover, but I found myself having a difficult time keeping track of the Academy students versus other teams, as everyone looked the same in their uniforms.
Plymouth Indiana Baby Photographer: Mollie
Today, Ginny and I went to Plymouth, Indiana to photograph baby Mollie, the grandchild of a friend of Ginny’s sister Julie. Parents Amy and Chris wanted to get some shots of Mollie for Christmas. Mollie was a great baby and would have no part of sleeping for this photo shoot. We hoped to get some photos of her sleeping, but as long as company was in the house, Mollie would have no part of sleeping. Mollie gave us plenty to work with, as she’s a bright, alert baby who followed her mom and the lens. A few times, she looked so directly at the lens that I thought I was working with a model. She was amazing to capture. We enjoyed working with Amy, Chris, and baby Mollie and hope to capture the next stage of Mollie’s childhood. We know she’ll be a beautiful toddler, as she’s a sweet and pretty baby now.
