Culver Academy Parent’s Weekend Photos: CGA Drill Team Performance
Today, as part of Culver’s Fall Parent’s Weekend, the CGA Drill team performed along with the other Honor Organizations at the Riding Hall. I’ve posted a few photos here; more are located at www.culverphotos.com.
Culver Academy Sailing Photos: Culver Academy Sailing
What a gorgeous day to sail. It was bright and sunny though probably a little cold out on the water. This weekend, the Culver Academy Sailing Team hosted a sailing regatta on Lake Maxinkuckee. I shot these from a pier using a 70-200mm lens with a 2x multiplier. There are more photos at www.culverphotos.com.
Culver Academy Soccer Photos: CMA JV Soccer vs. Mishawaka Marian
What a great day for a soccer game at Culver Academy. This evening, the CMA Eagles JV Soccer Team hosted Mishawaka Marian High School for a soccer match that was quite exciting to watch. The teams were closely skilled with no domintating winner. Due to a previous appointment and fading light (the game didn’t start until 6:30), I could stay only for the first half. But that half was fun to watch. I’ve posted my favorite photos from the game here; more can be found at www.culverphotos.com. I believe that the final score was 2-1 with Culver winning.

It was a nice afternoon for a soccer game as the CGA Girl’s JV Soccer Team hosted Mishawaka Marian at Culver. The girls played well with some great action on the field, but they could not catch up with Marian. It was obvious that the Marian team has been playing together as a team for quite some time as their passing skillls and ability to move the ball up the field were unbelievable. Marian scored the first goal in the first two minutes of the game. The Culver Girls team never gave up. The final score I believe was 1-5. I’ve posted my favorite photos here; more can be found at www.culverphotos.com.
Culver Academy Tennis Photos: CMA Varsity Tennis Sectional vs. Knox high School
This evening the CMA Varsity tennis team hosted Knox high School at Culver Academy for the Sectionals. It was a beautiful day to get some great shots. I’ve posted my favorite shots here; more can be found at www.culverphotos.com.
Culver Academy Photographer: Beautiful Day For A Parade!
After several days of cold, rainy weather, it was nice feeling the sun and having natural sunlight to photograph in for Culver Academies Sunday Garrison Parade. Both the troop and artillary were mounted for the parade, which was one of the final events of the Horsemanship Reunion/Dedication Weekend. The cadets looked quite well considering that school has only been back in session less than two months. As always, I’ve posted my favorites here; more photographs are at www.culverphotos.com.
On a personal note, my prayers go out to the young man who was rushed to the hospital via abulance after falling from his horse. I’m told that he is doing okay and should recover fine and the hospital trip was precautionary. Regardless, we wish him well.
Culver Academy Photographer: Horsemanship Weekend- Equestriennes
There is something to be said about the beauty of a well cared for, well groomed horse in motion. This evening, I was fortunate enough to watch, what I believe was, the first performance of the 2009-2010 school year of the Culver Girls Academy Equenstrienne team. As they always done, the CGA Equestriennes put on a great show coreographed with music from the Lancer band. This was one of the events scheduled during the Vaugn Equestrienne Center dedication weekend. For those not familiar with the Equestriennes, they are an Honor organization dressage team made up of female riders enrolled in Riding at Culver Academy. They are the female equivalant of the Lancers which has been around Culver since the 1930s. I’ve posted some photos here but there are more at www.culverphotos.com. If you happen to be looking for better photos of the Equestriennes, please vist the Honor Organizations section on www.culverphotos.com and look at the photos taken from the outdoor performances last Spring. With natural, sunny light, these photos turned out wonderful.
Culver Academy Photographer: Horsemanship Weekend- Lancer’s
I think this was the first performance of the Honor organization of the Lancers of the 2009-2010 school year. Considering that approximately one fourth of the team is new this year, I think they did a great job.
For those of you that know me, the Lancers are near and dear to my heart as I participated on this team 20+ years ago when I was cadet at Culver. I remember alumni bragging about how straight their formations were. I wouldn’t dare do that with this team. Great job Lancers! For more photographs of this team, see www.culverphotos.com.
Culver Academy Photographer: Horsemanship Weekend- Horse Show
Today I photographed part of a horse show at Culver Academy in the newly renovated Vaughn Equestrienne Center. This show was put on as part of the dedication weekend for the center. In addition to shooting some great horse photos, which I’ve always loved doing, I got to see some friends who returned for the event. I last saw some of these folks when I was a trooper at the Academy. I hope to make it to two more events over the weekend. Here’s a small selection of some of my favorite shots. There are more photographs posted on www.culverphotos.com.
Culver Academy Football Photos: CMA JV Football vs. John Adams
Today, Ginny and I photographed the JV Football team’s game against South Bend Adams. The Culver JV team played hard in rainy conditions, and I have to admit that it felt a lot colder than upper 50s. I wore four layers of clothes and could have used another layer. We got wet, but we enjoyed watching the game. We saw the Culver Eagles’ quarterbacks get hit pretty hard into today’s game, as Adams is a physical team. The Eagles weren’t successful, but they played hard. One of Ginny’s favorite players is Austin Pegg, number 11. I’ve given Austin the “front cover” of this blog entry because Ginny thinks the drive he led in the third quarter was the best one of the game. Austin may look small, but “he is big on talent,” as Ginny would say.
