Culver Academy Basketball Photos: CMA JV Basketball vs. South Bend Adams

Tonight, I took photos of High School Basketball at its best. This was the first game of the evening with the CMA Eagles JV Basketball team hosting South Bend Adams. The teams were well matched with no team dominating the game. The Culver Academy JV team fought hard, but couldn’t pull out a victory. The final score was 35-42. I’ve posted some photos here; there are more at www.culverphotos.com.

Culver Academy Hockey Photos: CMA Varsity Hockey vs. NW Chargers

Today, I took photos of Culver Academy’s Boy’s Varsity Hockey team as they played the NW Chargers. This was the second match up of these teams during the weekend, though I was shooting a different hockey match last night when they played. As an observer who has never played hockey, I’m not the best judge of whether a team is playing well or not. Unfortunately, the team lost by more than a couple of points. I still managed to get some great shots using my new D300s that I purchased a couple of days ago. I’ve posted my favorite photos here; there are more hockey photos and Culver photos at www.culverphotos.com.

Culver Academy Hockey Photos: CMA Prep Hockey vs. Lansing Capitals

Culver Academy photos. What’s there not to love? It is much more enjoyable when Culver plays strong and wins. Tonight, for the second game of the evening (actually it was the 4th, but I’ve yet to figure out how to be in two rinks at the same time), the CMA Prep Team played the Lansing Capitals. The enitre game was dominated by the CMA Eagles who played well as a team and showed some great passing skills. The final score was Culver-5 and Lansing- 1. I’ve posted some photos here, but you can find over 100 more at www.culverphotos.com.

Culver Academy Basketball Photos: CMA Varsity Basketball vs. St. Joe

Tonight, I photographed a scrimmage between Culver Acadmey and St. Joseph High School’s Varsity Basketball team. I must say, I have a lot to learn about how scimmages are played. I watched four periods and left confused as I didn’t know if anyone won because the score was reset  to zero at the end of each period. I posted some photos here; there are more at www.culverphotos.com.

Culver Academy Hockey Photos: CMA Varsity Hockey vs. Carmel

Some things never change! 25 years ago, the Carmel Hockey teams were a big rival for the Culver Hockey program and it appears that the same still holds true. Carmel proved to be a tough competitor for the CMA Varsity Hockey Team at today’s home game, but the CMA Eagles emerged victorious. The final score was Culver-4 and Carmel-2. In all fairness to Carmel, the score should have been 3 to 2 as one of Culver’s points occured on a pass back on Carmel’s part to their goalie who either sliped or misread the pass, allowing a slow-moving puck to get by him. As thankful as everyone was on Culver’s side for the point, the coaches, the fans, and the players felt compassion for the young man because it was an accident that shouldn’t have resulted in a score. I’ve posted some of my favorite photos from the game here. You can find more at www.culverphotos.com.

Culver Academy Hockey Photos: CMA Varsity Hockey vs. Prairie Ridge High School

This morning, the CMA Eagle’s Varsity Hockey Team played their second game against the Prairie Ridge High School Hockey Team. Plagued by penalties and up against a team that used the previous night’s loss to refresh, regenerate, and relight their passion, the Culver Academy Eagles did not fair well. I don’t know if the Prairie Ridge team studied the tapes from last night or if their desire to win was just that strong. Regardless, they played well and capitalized on CMA’s penalties. The final score was CMA-1, Prairie Ridge-5. I’ve posted some photos here; there are 200 more at www.culverphotos.com. Culver Academy Hockey Photos: CMA Varsity Hockey vs. Prairie Ridge High School

What a nail biter game! This evening, the CMA Eagle’s Varsity Hockey Team hosted the Prairie Ridge High School hockey team for their first home game of the season. The game started out on a possitive note with the Culver Eagles scoring early in the game followed by another goal a few minutes later. The first period ended with a score of Culver 2, Prairie Ridge 0. The second period proved to be a challenge for Culver with Culver giving up 2 points. The period ended with a tie score. During the third period, Culver scored with Prairie Ridge following a few minutes later. It appeared as though the game was going to end as a tie until Culver scored with 37 seconds left in the game. Final score: Culver-4, Prairie Ridge- 3. Let’s hope Culver can win again in the morning when there is a rematch. I’ve posted my favorite photos here. Tonight, the CMA Eagles U16 hockey team hosted the first game of the 2009-2010 season against the Queen City Steam in Culver, Indiana. It was an exciting, fun game to watch. The kids played well as a team and won 7-1. What a great start to the season! For more photos, please visit www.culverphotos.com.

Culver Academy Hockey Photos: CGA U19 Hockey vs. Victory Honda

This evening the CGA U19 Girls Hockey team played their first game of the 2009-2010 season at Culver Academy in the Henderson Ice Rink against the Victory Honda hockey team. The girls battled hard throughout the game, but they couldn’t hold off the other team. The final score was 2 to 4. During the game, a young lady on the opposing team was injured, causing a delay while waiting on EMTs. She was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Our prayers go out to her, her family, and her teammates. There are more photos located at www.culverphotos.com.

Culver Academy Football Photos: CMA Varsity Football Sectionals in Hammond

For those of you who braved the artic cold, long drive, rain, and 30-mph winds to travel to Hammond for the CMA Eagle’s first Sectional game, you know the miseries of the weather were quickly forgotten once the team took to the field. Tonight, the Eagles played one of their best games of the season, resulting in a shutout against the 8 and 1 team of Hammond Clark. The final score was 21 Eagles, 0 Hammond.

The game and the players were a wet, muddy mess when it was all over, though I suspect that none of them realized this until they were on the bus headed home. The Eagles should be proud. They played a great game and conducted themselves professionally and with sportsmanship. If this is any indication of future tournament games, they should go far. I’ve posted a few photos here; there are hundreds more at www.culverphotos.com. Please note that due to IHSAA tournament regulations, these photos are not for sale.
