Culver Academy Baseball Photos: CMA Varsity Baseball vs. Morgan Township
Tonight, the 2010 baseball season began at Culver Academy with the first home game against Morgan Township. The weather was a little deceiving with the temperature being cooler than it appeared, but this didn’t seem to bother either team. The Culver Academy Eagles seemed to struggle in the beginning, but they started coming together as the game progressed. For those unfamilar with Culver, the kids returned from a long Spring Break (over 2 weeks) just 7 days ago. Unlike many of the schools that Culver plays, the Culver baseball team did not continue to practice over the vacation. Knowing this, I think the team played well. I’m not sure what the final score was, as I left once the light started being prohibitive for shooting but when I left, Culver was gaining ground. I’ve posted some photos here; there are more at http://www.culverphotos.com/p1040428675.
Culver Academy Baseball Photos: CCHS Varsity Baseball vs. Lacrosse
This morning the Culver Community High School Varsity Baseball Team hosted a double header against Lacrosse High School. The weather was great, though it was a little chilly at the beginning of the game. I wasn’t able to stay for all of the games, but what I did watch proved that the Caveliers will be a tough opponent this season. Following are some photos from the game; there are several more at http://www.culverphotos.com/p808142882.
Culver Academy Baseball Photos: CMA Baseball Senior Banner Photos
Today, I shot the five seniors of the CMA Baseball Team for their Senior banners that will be presented during the upcoming Culver Academies Parent’s Weekend. Following are some pictures that I ended up with before editing and submission to the company that prints and creates the banners.

For this baseball game, the coach invited me into the dugout to shoot the pictures I captured. Shooting from the dugout is a great experience, as you get much better shots than you would trying to shoot over the fence, and you get to hear the team and coaches interact. You feel as though you are right in the middle of the action. In a few of these photos, you can see where the ball appears to float in the air. I try to get shots in which you can see the ball and the action in the scene. This is a challenge, as the speed of your camera must keep up with the speed of play. I hope you enjoy this selection of these first-rate athletes. Thanks to the coach and team for letting me be part of the dugout. It was an honor.
