Rough Riding Performance Photos

This afternoon, the Culver Rough Riding team performed for the Admissions Open House. After the performance, they allowed the visiting potential students to ride the horses and talk with the team. I’ve posted the photos to:

Culver Academy Sailing Regatta Photos

Yesterday, I went out on Lake Maxinkuckee for the only Culver Academy sailing regatta held at home this year. It was a little cold to be on the lake, but the sky was beautiful and provided some great photos. I’ve uploaded the photos that I took to:

Culver Academies Sailing Practice Photos

Yesterday, I photographed Culver’s Sailing team as they practiced on Lake Maxinkuckee. I did some edits in Photoshop, so the skies may not be consistent throughout. Because of time, I was unable to alter every photo. However, if you’d like a different sky on a particular photo, drop me an email and I’ll see what I can do. I’ve posted the photos to:

Culver Academy Sailing Regatta Photos

This past weekend, Culver Academy hosted its annual invitational sailing regatta on the shores of Lake Maxinkuckee. As always, the coaches and students of CGA and CMA hosted a nice event. The weather was sunny and beautiful but there was almost no wind. On Saturday, races were postponed until later in the day. Sunday, after an hour postponement, the races were called off. I photographed what I was able to but with prior commitments later in the afternoon on both days, only a few races actually occured during the hours that I was there.

I’ve posted some photos here. Other photos are located at:

Indiana Sports Photography: Culver Academy Horse Show Invitational

This past weekend, the Culver Academy Jumping teams hosted an IEA (Interscholastic Equestrian Association) invitational horse show at the Vaughn Equestrienne Center. Originally scheduled for two days, due to bad forecasted weather, the event was shortened to a single day with only a couple of visiting teams. Though the event was shortened, the Academy did a wonderful job of hosting it and everyone appeared to have a good time. And I hope you’ll agree with me that the horses were not only great performers but beautiful to watch and photograph. I’m a horse lover and was a trooper at Culver, so I tend to watch the horses more than the people.

I’m always so impressed with the students and teams at these horse events. It’s just a classy sport to watch and capture on film. The Academy students did well in the different events, taking several first places, seconds, and thirds. They should be proud of another great performance. I look forward to the big February event.

I’ve posted some of my favorite photos here. Other photos are located at:

Hilton Head Wildlife Photography

This week, I made a last-minute trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina to surprise my wife who is down there for 21 days. During my 48-hour trip, I had a little time to explore the island and shoot some of the beautiful wildlife in their natural environments. In my travels, I came across many types of birds, dolphins, alligators, and pelicans. I’ve posted a few photos here. More can be found at:

Culver Indiana Photography: Culver Academy Horses

There are a few things in life that Ginny and I can’t resist. Me, I can’t sit down on the couch without changing into comfy clothes. Ginny will never discard an email from J. Jill, Pottery Barn, or Crate and Barrel without first opening it to read it. (Thankfully, she doesn’t buy things too often.) Neither one of us can be near horses with a camera in hand without taking at least a few photos. During yesterday’s Tour de Max, one location that we shot the cyclists from was by Culver Academy’s paddock, which had the horses out for the morning. Following are some of the photos that we captured.

Culver Academy Crew Photos: Crew Practice

Yesterday, Culver Academies Coach Weaser was kind enough to let me tag along on one of the chase boats as the CGA and CMA Crew Teams practiced on Lake Maxinkuckee. The weather was nice and the lake was calm, though the winds picked up slightly as we progressed along the shore. The kids had a great practice in preparation for a large tournament in Cincinnatti this weekend that will have over 50 teams participating.

I’ve posted some photos here. More photos are located at www.culverphotos.com.  To simplify things, I’ve sorted the photos into girls (www.culverphotos.com/5_6_10_cgacrew) and boys (www.culverphotos.com/5_6_10_cmacrew).

Culver Indiana Photographer: Country Sunset

Tonight was another great night to catch a sunset. This time, we stopped at a railroad track to get our shots. Little did we know that a train would arrive within minutes of taking the first shot. Additional photos are posted at:
